How We Started
Founded in 2005 by artists and writers, Threadhoppers Press is focused on helping new and unknown artists gain exposure. The company, very new and small themselves, knows the importance of being seen. ThP also knows that today's society is suffering a major drought of non-commercial art. The bookstores are flooded with pulp fiction and the galleries are filled with the same artists mimicking other artist's work. It's time to start showing the incredible talents of this never-ending well of creativity that is available!
The Mission Statement
As a publishing entity, our mission is to share the work of lesser known artists and writers with those seeking true art and provide them with a springboard for publication that larger, more established companies may not offer them. We value the creativity and skill of the unsung artists and writers that pursue intelligent, heart-felt design in a world of rapidly developing formulaic works and prepackaged merchantable pseudo-art.
Why Should You Care?
There is a fine line in an individual's life that they walk; on one side the important stuff, on the other soft, squishy Japanese puff toys. We'd like to think that we fall on that side...puff toys are great. And you should care about puff toys...because really, if you don't, who will? Puff toys deserve their recognition too. Can't you see them? Their wide, anime eyes glimmering with the tears of a pained heart, the shattered remains of their abandoned souls? The puff toys need you....and we need you too.
Threadhoppers isn't run by businessmen. We don't wear suits. We don't have meetings- unless shared coffee breaks and late night pizza count. We have a mission statement because its the only way to keep our often over enthusiastic minds focused. ThP is about the art; about the writing; about giving young people and new people like ourselves an outlet and a stepping stone toward the stars. Sure, we could have put up a very professional, well thought out and stuffy website...but that's just not us. If we are anything, we are not liars. This is who we are. This is Threadhoppers Press...and yes, we have a mascot named Bobbin. We prefer to think of him as our imaginary friend.
