OAKFALLOW

"Don't be frightened...it's only a house."

The Oakfallow Estate in the lowlands of south-eastern Scotland has a history of tragedy, horror and unexplained events. The most well known event in its history was quite tragic, horrific and inexplicable. The massacre of 1830 was perpetrated by the unlikeliest of figures: The Lady Regina Winternight. This young woman committed an act so heinous that even today people shy from the doorstep of Oakfallow Castle. Although many believe much of it to have been embellished with time, the recent equally baffling murder-suicide during a charity ball has led many to believe that the stories are true. Stories of haunted houses date back centuries. Many are urban legend and some are indeed places of unexplained phenomena. Dr. Kaelyn Maynard, funded by a mysterious benefactor, has come to Oakfallow to sift truth from frightful rumor. With a team of paranormal investigators- and an unwanted crew of film documentarians- she hopes to discover just what strangeness plagues Oakfallow's walls. It is an unfortunate matter that the Lady of the house is less than hospitable to uninvited guests.

SHORT ONE
LoRaca

Most people would say that growing up isn't easy for anyone. Childhood is meant to be tough to teach the kid how to survive in this rough world. Some kids start out on a tougher playing field. Some kids are playing a harder game. The kids that live at LoRaca Correctional Home for Juveniles are lucky if they survive to adulthood...and the ones that do are a different breed. Took committed no crime, but she's a danger; to herself and others. At least, that is what the State has decided. How could any child that has seen what she has seen not be? Like any child, Took will make friends in her 'New Home'...but friends like Sarah aren't exactly the type of people the State had in mind. Sarah isn't the type of person Took ever thought she'd meet, but exactly who she needs to know if she's going to learn how to survive LoRaca.

SHORT TWO
Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit: Nothing Comes From Nothing

An unique and disquieting essay on the nature and cycle of life and death. The author says: "The idea began ages ago after a long meditation on the nature of Being. It is partly inspired by the works and philosophies of Parmenides of Elea, a Greek Philospher who inspired many works and schools of thought including those of Aristotle, Socrates, Plato and Zeno. The famous quote "I think therefore I am," is inspired by the works of Parmenides, the first man to suggest in writing that the Earth was round. I make no claims to the intelligence (or lack thereof) behind this piece. It is a choking poem that speaks to a meditation on existence."

The work was also inspired by this stunning work of art: Dead Aware by Stephen Perry and Katerina Mitchell
